Indian Society for Applied Mechanics, popularly known as ISAM, registered under the Society Act, is actively involved in bringing together academicians, researchers, industry professionals, and students working in different fields of mechanics. Mechanics is the walk of life and is being extensively used in almost every field of technology at different time and length scales. ISAM regularly organizes biannual conferences (INCAM), student conferences, and faculty development workshops. Recently, ISAM has taken the lead in addressing society's challenges by propagating the idea of cost-effective technologies under frugal engineering initiatives. Many lectures and workshops are uploaded on our YouTube channel
To produce more competent and skilled manpower in different fields of mechanics, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has taken the lead in introducing the Undergraduate Program in Engineering & Computational Mechanics, a multidisciplinary program, in line with the objectives of NEP 2020. MNNIT Allahabad, Prayagraj, and NIT Jamshedpur have also started similar programs, which have attracted bright students from the country. MANIT Bhopal will start a UG program in Engineering & Computational Mechanics from the academic session 2025-26. I wish and hope that more institutions will come forward to introduce similar multidisciplinary programs with mechanics as the focal point.
I request and appeal to individuals as well as institutions to become a member of ISAM, join us, and participate in the various activities of ISAM.
Best wishes,
President, ISAM
Director, MANIT Bhopal
Professor (on leave), Applied Mechanics Department, MNNIT Allahabad
